no shirt, no pants, no problem

I should probably NOT write the following, which summarizes the semi-naked debauchery that took place last Thursday between the hours of 8:30PM and 3:45AM in Minneapolis, and which could likely put my future political aspirations in jeopardy, but it was just too much tremendous fun to keep to myself. Here's a synopsis for your enjoyment:

- 6.14.2007...8:45PM...25 bicyclists meet in NE Mpls, remove pants/shirts...
- after a water balloon fight and a leisurely ride down Nicollet Mall at 9:30pm, bikers cruise Lake Street/Lyndale/Hennepin...many whistles and shouts of support from fully clothed passers-by...
- 11:12PM...undies-clad group meets in front of Bryant Lake Bowl, moves on to Nomad, where the hip hop group on stage removes their pants in a sign of solidarity with the nearly-nekkid riders in the crowd...
- mob then rolls to Grumpy's downtown for karaoke and more Pabst tall boys...lost of karaoke and cheesy fries, outdoor seating and strange glances from the classy, dressed-up folks out on the town. try explaining an "underwear ride" to anyone NOT in her/his underwear.
- 1:04AM...now numbering in the thirties, the swarm of flesh and flashing red lights makes its way to the 331 club on University, proceeds to dance madly to random DJ mix in a nearly empty bar...
- bar closes, Nate proceeds to ride with three friends to uptown, where he plans to crash on an unoccupied couch.
- 2:39AM...nate loses track of his friends (don't ask), finds himself alone and in his underwear at the intersection of Lake and Lyndale. He proceeds to put his shorts back on and bike home, arriving at 3:45AM exhausted and yet oddly enlightened after an unintended, 14-mile ride through SE Mpls and Richfield. thank goodness it was a clear, warm night.
