el cajon peruano/flamenco

While home for spring break I took advantage of my father's savvy with saws, clamps and wood glue in order to bring to light the 'cajon' I've been daydreaming about since January. The body is 3/4", six-ply baltic birch, and the 'tapa' (face) is a stained, 1/4" three-ply. Behind the face of the drum are strung four, .38mm guitar strings (I think that's a D, or "re", no?) for the sharp, 'aguda' slap tone. The deep, bass "grave" tone is clean, with no contribution from the strings...
