Ever wonder why north is UP on a standard world map? And why are Western Europe and Africa typically in the center? I heard it may have something to do with the early European navigators of the oceans, whose courses were sailed according to relative position of the North star. OK, got it...but, why should magnetic north be UP on a map? I remember seeing an old map in the (old) library of St. Cloud State, which resembled the one here, with the world flipped on its head. It offers a fresh perspective on our continental neighbors.
